Built in 1920 by Gilded Age architect John Russell Pope, whose commissioned works included The Jefferson Memorial, the National Gallery of Art and "The Waves" in Newport, RI, for George Hewitt Myers, heir to the Bristol-Myers pharmaceutical fortune.

Sited on 10 elevated acres of lovely landscaped grounds with unparalleled ocean views and expansive white sand beaches with a boardwalk across the dunes leading to 900 linear feet of pristine ocean beach offering a unique and summer paradise.

Patios and porches surrounded by seaside gardens and walled stone terraces further add to your living space and provide quiet places to enjoy the sweeping views of Block Island and Montauk Point. To reach "The Timbers", follow a long driveway to a large auto court with a 3-car garage. Stairs on the left lead to the Manor House’s outdoor patio, where parties are often held. Stairs on the right guide you to a covered porch with a fantastic view of the ocean. The center stairs lead to a classic vestibule and then into a dramatic foyer with an elegant chandelier. With this estate’s interior castle-like atmosphere composed of large rooms, high ceilings, exposed beams, brick fireplaces, and chandeliers throughout, you’ll feel transported back in history. From its magical turret and roof-top deck observatory you can see the famous summer estates of Watch Hill dotted along the miles of pure white sand coastline, the white-water views of the Atlantic Ocean, The Ocean House, the historic Watch Hill Lighthouse and charming center of town.
Once inside, you will discover a spectacular and dramatic 2-story living room with a stone fireplace and plenty of seating to accommodate your family and guests. Built-in ocean-view loft seating with library on the second-floor landing serves as a great spot to read or enjoy some quiet time.
Climb a few steps from the living room to reach the dining room, which features a bar, long table with chairs, and an adjacent smaller table with built-in seating which is perfect for small gatherings or parties of up to 30 people! A pantry leads to a true gourmet kitchen with limestone flooring and doors that open onto a dining patio with wonderful ocean views which is perfect for grilling and al fresco dining. In addition to original wooden cabinets, 2 deep sinks, a fabulous French blue Corneau gas stove, and plenty of counter space, there are 2 hidden refrigerators that blend in with the cabinetry. There are also 2 more lighted pantries and an original ice box, which has been electrified. When dinner or a cocktail party is about to begin, simply pull a rope to ring the tower bell in the front of the house to alert everyone at the estate! On the ground level, the main house also features a media room with windows to view the ocean beyond. This room also has a secret tunnel passageway that leads to the nearby Tennis Cottage. From the second level, you can also access the outdoor spa and beautiful elevated oceanfront in-ground swimming pool, outdoor kitchen as well as a cozy fire pit. Additionally, you will find a convenient changing area and laundry room on this floor, which connects along a hallway to a charming billiards room. There is a fully integrated indoor and outdoor Sonos music system and the owner has provided a number of scooters to help you explore the town and enjoy the surrounding areas. There is also a fully equipped state-of-the-art gym for those few rainy days when running on the beach, surfing, swimming, paddle-boarding or tennis isn't ideal.

The Tennis Cottage:
Accessible through a tunnel connecting the garage and the Manor House and featuring 4 beautifully decorated and designed bedrooms, 3 full baths, fully equipped chef's kitchen, cozy dining area, living room with fireplace and wonderful ocean-view outdoor stone patio.
Tennis Court:
Designed and built in 2016, this imported Italian red clay hydro-court (never needs watering) is sure to impress amateurs and professionals alike! Host your own private French Open then relax and re-cap the matches in the Tennis Pavillion complete with half bath, water fountain, refrigerator and surround sound speakers.
The Carriage House:
The separate Carriage House located at the farther end of the property with separate driveway entrance has 3 well-sized bedrooms and 2 full baths and includes a caretaker's apartment onsite who will stay on for the duration of your visit to assist with anything that you will need to ensure a seamless and relaxing stay.
The Town of Watch Hill:
Watch Hill is an affluent coastal village in the town of Westerly, Rhode Island. It sits at the southwestern-most point of Rhode Island on a peninsula extending into Block Island Sound. Watch Hill came into prominence in the late 19th and early 20th century as an exclusive summer resort with wealthy families building sprawling Victorian-style "cottages" along it's peninsula. Watch Hill is characterized by The New York Times as a community, "with a strong sense of privacy and of discreetly used wealth,"
Napatree Point is a 1.5-mil long sandy spit that extends west from Watch Hill's town center and includes Sandy Point, which shelters Little Narragansett Bay and has made Watch Hill a popular and picturesque harbor with dockage, deep-water moorings and a yacht club around which the business district has grown. Stroll Bay Street which is lined with restaurants, cafes, shops and stop for ice cream on the way to "The Flying Horse Carousel", one of the oldest merry-go-rounds in America.
Watch Hill is a two-hour drive from Boston a three-hour drive from New York City and 45 minutes to TF Green State Airport. The Westerly Airport is 5 minutes away and can accommodate prop planes, small private jets and helicopters.
